OUR HISTORY
We were established in 1994 by a group of concerned citizens with an initial mandate to enable the seniors in our communities to have access to affordable, good-quality housing.
We were all volunteers and soon learned that building a structure is a long and time-consuming process, with many delays and obstacles. We surveyed existing facilities and learned that in the Vancouver East side, there were already more than 60 seniors low-cost housing buildings which offered no social programs for their residents.
Our Board decided to focus our efforts on outreach to the existing seniors buildings and providing indoor and outdoor activities. As a result, over the years, we have turned many isolated seniors into socially happy people. Our organization continues to be all-volunteer based.
Our partnership with Asia Miles which allows their members to donate Asia Miles points to support our programs has become a great success and we have extended the program to train university students to become more globally concerned and become involved in humanitarian work in all parts of our world.
