HUMANITARIAN RELIEF

In the poor districts of South Africa, many children live in absolute poverty. A large percentage are orphans and are abandoned or their parents are absent because of alcohol and drugs. They become easy targets for gang activity, prostitution and more.

Two volunteers supported by a C.A.R.E. travel award introduced an activity program with the children near Cape Town that used the game of soccer to try to teach a positive new reality of life. Along with life music and craft classes, the laughter and sharing demonstrated by the children gives hope for a better outcome for these young lives.
