Bringing Food and Medicine to Refugees From the World’s Worst Famine - Somalia

A team of nurses, doctors and a reconstruction builder from Canada have dedicated themselves to offer medical care in a makeshift clinic to hundreds of people a day who are suffering from malaria, pneumonia, worms, anemia and diarrhea. They also distribute badly needed donations of food and medicine.

A New Hope - Aceh After the Tsunami

new hope_after_tsunami_01A local school in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, was destroyed by the merciless Asian tsunami and the only English teacher of that school was killed. To help the recovery, a volunteer spent three months assisting with the reconstruction and rehabilitation effort. He became a much-loved English teacher at the local university.

Destroyed in Two Minutes - A Fishing Community

destroyed in_2_minutes_01The small fishing community in southern Peru was struck by an earthquake of 8.0 magnitude. Hundreds were killed during the disaster and countless homes and buildings were turned to rubble due to poor building methods. To minimize future earthquake damage, C.A.R.E. sent volunteers to help the local people construct earthquake-resistant residences, saving lives through primary prevention.

A River of Sewage Threatens the Children

flooding buildingsWhen the Tsunami hit Chennai, India, the slums of Anju Kudasai were hard hit and sanitary services and equipment were destroyed. A small team of volunteers from Canada, supported by a travel grant from C.A.R.E., arrived to rebuild the toilet and drainage system, averting a potential outbreak of malaria, dengue fever and cholera.
