Chinese New Year Party 2004!
On January 28th, 2004, C.A.R.E. Society held our largest party ever at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Chinatown, Vancouver. In celebration on Chinese New Year, we decided to hold an event that would include people from all our different seniors homes. Our innovative ideas for entertainment encouraged the seniors to interact with our many volunteers and make new friends with other seniors!
There was so much entertainment available in our fun filled day that our seniors were dashing about trying to catch them all! We had 3 different dancing troops perform various dances for us. And not to leave out the seniors, everyone was invited to perform onstage with our karaoke team!
Our novel idea to hold a casino-like enviroment around the hall had every senior out of their chairs and playing games. We included games like 'Fish, Shrimp and Crab', Bingo, Buttons and more. Lunch was as always, a very important occasion, but as soon as the seniors were done eating they went right back to playing more games!
Lastly our games prizes, crafts activities and raffle draw made sure that no senior left empty handed.
We would like to thank all of our volunteers who helped to make this day possible. In addition to the record number of participants at over 300, we also had a record number of volunteers. Over 30 in total! It is with all of our volunteer support that we manage to continue to provide a high ration of volunteers to seniors and the detail and attention that they deserve.
